My
advice to anyone wanting a tattoo would be as follows
- THINK FIRST, and believe me many customers don't!
Once
you have selected a tattoo - and if you haven't
then check out the studio designs, internet, tattoo
magazines and design sources - collect together
all images you think will help the artist create
your design - there is nothing worse on a busy day
than a customer or potential customer trying to
describe the picture that is contained within their
mind.
Once
a design is selected it is important to find out
if and when the artist can do it - some shops are
appointment only - some part appointment/walk in
and some are walk in only. If it's an appointment
studio you'll be required (in most cases) to leave
a deposit. This is sometimes non-returnable if you
miss or are late for your appointment, some studios
will refund deposits if 24 or 48 hours cancellation
notice are given. It amazes me how some people are
offended when asked for a deposit, they want the
artist to commit time to them but are not prepared
to do the same!
If
you are going to have names or dates tattooed on
you make sure you know the date or the correct spelling
- you'd be amazed at how many customers don't know
spellings even of their kids or wives!
Find
out what payment method the studio you choose accept
- many artists aren't going to be pleased if they
run a cash only studio and you want to pay with
a credit card..
If
you look under age take ID to the studio - do not
take a group of mates with you - often they can
distract you or the artist.
